How to get rid of cellulite - the fast and easy way
Sometimes a subject such as cellulite comes along, and I’m absolutely amazed by the inaccuracy of information available online, but everything you read online is true, right? =] Knowledge on fitness has made leaps and bounds over the years and there is enough date available to backup what works and what doesn’t. Hopefully today I will help you debunk a few things that you have had a misconception about.
Cellulite can be compared to males losing their hair, it’s a part of genetics and it’s a terrible reminder that sometimes life isn’t as fair to some. Men, if they have the money can get the surgery done; something like a graft but it does cost a pretty penny in the end, but lucky for us ladies there is still hope.
First off let’s talk about some things that DO work:
Weight loss – The best start
It’s the most basic of concepts, lose weight and you will lose the cottage cheese thighs; while this is true to an extent, it’s not the whole puzzle. It is a big piece of the overall strategy to lose the weight, but only losing the weight won’t completely get rid of cellulite. What you want is the skin to be closer to the muscle, not the fat. So in saying that you not only want to lose the weight, but you also want to add some muscle that will take place of the fat and push your skin closer to the muscle. Creating pressure is what you’re looking to do, and when you create enough pressure it will help smooth out the dimples that are caused by fat. This is the reason cellulite appearance is reduced when you are stretching the skin by bending over or something similar – the muscles push on the fat and ‘flatten’ the dimples; this is the effect you’re going for in the long run (without bending over of course).
The overall goal is to increase overall body muscle mass while decreasing the overall fat storage. Keep in mind this does not mean you will become unbearably muscular; it means you will have much more definition. Unless you’re in a body building competition you want to aim for the firm thighs and butt. The end result is more muscle and less fat, therefor you will end up with less cellulite. If you find that you’re a very heavy person (very overweight) your best bet is to start out with weight loss. The pounds will come off quick if you’re consistent.
Cellulite but not overweight
The most common cause of this is the lack of muscle in the appropriate areas. If you have lost weight but haven’t worked out (meaning you’re in good shape –slim) you can still have cellulite on your thighs and legs. The reduced muscle can cause tension between the muscle and the skin and can sometimes (rarer cases) cause the ‘orange peel’ look to worsen. Again (not trying to beat a dead horse here) you need to focus on increasing muscle mass. Focus on this simple idea and you’ll be way ahead of the curve, of course you want your exercises to focus on the buttocks and thighs. You can view some exercises here
You’re eating the wrong foods
There are many foods you want to avoid if you want to avoid cellulite. We’ll start with some of the basics and if you want more depth visit the top 10 foods to avoid for cellulite.
Processed foods such as any type of white food you can find – this is everything from white rice to, white bread to French fries to sugar to etc… the list goes on and on. Another thing you will want to avoid at all costs is fast food; this one should be very self-explanatory. There isn’t a whole lot of value in MOST fast food places, but even if you find one that is somewhat good for you; make sure there isn’t a ton of sodium hidden in them.
Avoid Alcohol if possible as well, a glass of wine or a beer a day isn’t going to do anything to you, but taking shots or drinking anything in excess is only going to push you back – those are nothing but empty calories. Sure they may make you feel good, but the long-term end result isn’t going to be what you’re seeking. Again if you want the whole list of my top 10 foods to avoid; click the link above!
Drink more water
This one may seem like common sense but you would be surprise (and yes I do it all too often as well) how often people fail to drink enough water. Your body is made mostly of water and it’s the life source of almost everything, especially us. If you keep hydrated you will notice significant change not only in your mood but how you feel and act. It seems like such a small thing, but nothing can replace water (not even the electrolyte drinks) and nothing is as beneficial as water. So if you’re looking for a quick and free way to help not only feel better, but help you on your path to getting rid of excess weight (which in turn reduces cellulite) then start drinking as much water as you can every single day – starting now!
The choice is yours on all of this, I am only providing you information with what has worked for me in the past – if you want to know a great little secret for removing the appearance of cellulite with house hold items visit the site on the right hand side and see how I get rid of cellulite.
